Rooted in craft & grown in relationship
Homegrown Gardens is a husband-and-wife practice born from a shared love of plants, place, and the quiet satisfaction of working with the land.
We met while collaborating on an apothecary garden at a 400+ acre sustainable farm and resort, a project that invited us both to imagine what it means to work in true partnership with the earth. We spent long hours dreaming up the garden together, walking the fields and deciding which plants to grow and why. Phil’s technical experience and deep horticultural understanding grounded my more ethereal vision of a spa garden overflowing with medicinal herbs and flowers. Together, we designed a living apothecary that would serve both people and pollinators, a place where beauty and purpose could coexist.
What started as a collaboration became a way of life and a promise to spend our days creating beauty and belonging together. Phil brings a lifetime of knowledge and hands-on experience growing around the world, from tropical permaculture projects to heritage gardens in the American South. His approach is intuitive yet technical, blending craftsmanship with ecological understanding. He knows how to read the land, the way water moves, how soil breathes, and what a space needs to truly thrive.
I’m Libbyrae, a designer shaped by years in the healing arts and sensory aesthetics. My work bridges beauty and belonging, tending to the subtle layers of a space that help people feel more grounded, more connected, more alive. I approach gardening as ritual, a place to listen and to work with intention.
Together, we create gardens that are meant to be lived in, spaces that invite you to slow down, gather, and take part in the rhythm of nature. We favor plants with purpose: herbs that heal, flowers that feed pollinators, and edible landscapes that nourish.
Every garden we build is an offering. We take only a handful of projects each season so we can stay close to the work. Afterward, we offer tending: soil care, pruning, and quiet check-ins as the garden settles into itself. Homegrown Gardens is more than a business. It is a practice of reverence and devotion to beauty, nourishment, and the living conversation between human and earth.
